Orangetheory Fitness Provides Personalized Workouts

As the lead emergency department clinical pharmacist at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, Dr. Ashkan Khabazian responds to code blue situations and assists hospital staff with the proper administration of medication. Outside of work. Dr. Ashkan Khabazian enjoys working out, utilizing the Orangetheory of fitness to optimize his training results.

Held at nearly 800 studios around the country, Orangetheory training sessions equip all participants with a heart rate monitor that measures their training zone, the first being gray, or very light effort, ranging up to red, or all-out effort, that requires reaching 92 to 100 percent of your maximum heart rate. The name Orangetheory comes from the fourth (orange) zone, which requires “uncomfortable effort” and requires approximately 84 percent of your maximum heart rate. An hour-long workout aims to spend between 12 and 20 minutes in this zone to maximize its calorie-burning and metabolism-boosting benefits.

To achieve this heart rate, the workout includes interval training on a treadmill, alternating periods of sprinting, hill training, and recovery, as well as strength training exercises on the floor that might include squats or overhead presses. Orange theory workouts are personalized and scalable, and leverage the power of technology to hold participants accountable.
